Arkansas River

 

The Salida, Buena Vista and Upper Arkansas River Valley are premier Colorado vacation spots, offering more adventure, recreation, quiet settings and romance than one person can hope to experience.

Year-round activities include shopping in Salida's famous Historic District. Coffee and sandwich shops, Salida's Second Saturday "Adventure in Arts" art galleries filled with the work of local artists, local theatre performances, surprising menus and the spectacular San Juan Mountain Range welcome you to experience the valley.

Skiing the SlopesWe are located thirty minutes from Monarch ski and snowboard slopes. Plenty of pristine trails for cross country skiing, snowmobiling, and snow-shoeing await your pleasure. We are able to offer you discounts through local shops for all the equipment you’ll need, from skis to snowmobiles and tours.  Hot springs invite you to relax and soothe your soul in the crispy nights. Sunrises and sunsets are full of surprises in our banana belt climate. Winter wildlife abounds in the hills and valleys.

Spring, summer and fall find the "GOLD MEDAL WATERS" of the Arkansas River full of waiting fish. Enjoy a walk wade or float trip with one of the many Fly Fishing Guides  in Salida. Jump into a kayak or white water raft for a half day ride to a one or two day guided tour. Both can be rented locally if you desire a self guided tour. The Salida Golf Club is conveniently located between our property and Salida’s historic district. Kayaks Waiting for AdventureLlama packs trips, horseback riding, hiking, bicycling, try the Adventure Park & Captain Zipline or a dip into the Salida Hot Springs Pool offer family fun. Not far from us are the National Sand Dunes, Buena Vista, Leadville, ghost towns, the Royal Gorge, and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Enjoy annual events such as Fibark, The Annual Beerfest,the Art Walk, ATV Fall Color Tour, Angel of Shavano Car Show, and bicycle competitions.

HorseWe will gladly arrange any combination of these activities for you, or let your imagination wander and we’ll do our best to make your stay in the valley memorable. Box lunches are available with advance notice and at a small additional cost.

Traveling with your horse? We are also a horse hotel and can stable your horse in our barn and corral for an extra fee.
